Deadline for Registration at the Training Course "Building Better QSARs" is 23rd April 2004

Building Better QSARs: A Training Course for New and Experienced QSAR Practitioners - Sponsored by Umetrics

Building Better QSARs is a hands-on training course. It has been developed for managers, scientists, students, technicians and others of all abilities to increase their knowledge and skills in the area of toxicological QSAR. It will take place on Sunday 9th May 2004 (before the start of the main Workshop) and will be held at Liverpool John Moores University (about a 10 minute walk from the conference venue).

The training course will comprise a series of lectures followed by a workshop and practical demonstration of QSAR techniques.

The aims of the Building Better QSARs Training Course are to:

  • introduce the history of QSARs
  • discuss QSARs for predicting biological endpoints and physical properties
  • define the best descriptors for use in developing QSARs
  • describe statistical analyses for developing QSARs
  • discuss "best practice" for QSARs
  • demonstrate hands-on modelling of data to build better QSARs
  • demonstrations and hands-on calculations of physical properties and construction of simple molecular models

The program of the Building Better QSARs Training Course is:
