PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS: Times, Use of PowerPoint, Submission of Papers to the Proceedings and other details.
General
  • You must register with the full necessary payment to make your platform presentation
  • All platform presenters are encouraged to submit a manuscript of their work for publication in the Proceedings.
  • The time and date of your presentation is available from the program.
  • Please introduce yourself to the session chairmen at the start of your session.
  • Use the speakers questionnaire (which will be supplied) to help the session chairmen introduce you correctly.

Platform Presentations: Timing

  • SUBMITTED PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN 15 MINUTES, you will also have 5 minutes for questions and changeover of speakers.
  • PLENARY PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS SHOULD BE NO LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES, you will also have 5 minutes for questions and changeover of speakers.
  • Session chairmen will be asked to stop talks that go over the allotted time.

Platform Presentations: Presentation

  • The ONLY ACCEPTABLE PRESENTATION FORMAT IS POWERPOINT (any version later than or including PowerPoint 97). It will not be possible to make presentations with overhead transparencies, 35mm slides etc.
  • PowerPoint presentations will only be accepted on disk or submitted on the web-site. Presenters will not be able to use their own laptops.
  • PowerPoint presentations should be downloaded onto the web-site before 1st May 2004
  • Text on PowerPoint slides should be a minimum of 32pt.
  • Slides should have no more than 8 lines of text.
  • Slides must be horizontal (landscape format).
  • Reduce cluttered text on slides – only state the main points.
  • Use graphs rather than tables of data.
  • For QSARs, summarise statistics e.g. goodness of fit or predictivity, full statistical analysis is more appropriate for the manuscript in the proceedings.

Lastly, a Workshop is only as good as the contributions it receives. Your presentation at QSAR2004 will be memorable to your peers if it is:

  • Original and Novel
  • Significant
  • Well structured with clear aims and findings
  • Informative
  • Controversial (within reason)

Please ask yourself, will YOUR presentation at QSAR2004 be memorable?
